Kauai Coconut Diaries: Day 3 (and a half)

June 15, 2015
Our final (full) day was spent exploring the south and west sides of the island.  The five of us (for the last time) piled into the rental car, buckled up, and embarked on our daylong drive.

Little Fish Coffee

In the charming town of Hanapepe, we made a pit stop for morning coffees at this cute cafe find.

With our caffeine levels restored and our personalities a bit more buzzed, it was back onto the road for us.

The cemetery.  Since we were in town, my grandparents felt a visit necessary.

It was especially sad to see my grandpa hobbling up and down the aisles looking for his friends.  I'm glad, however, to have met those who've made my grandparents so happy in the past.

Waimea Canyon

The drive up was unbelievably long and winding, but the view?  So worth it.

No picture does the Canyon justice.

Lucky for us, it's lychee season!  My cute little grandpa bought us a bag to share.  He makes me smile.

Hamura Saimin

Unassuming, yes, but this little saimin shop ain't suffering.  Business is unbelievably good.

Mmmm . . .

And then before we knew it, the final day arrived.

I am so not a morning person.  I've never been one.  And although waking up in the morning has always been a difficulty of mine, on this special day, I thankfully made it out of bed just in time.

My grandma and grandpa at breakfast.  I love these two.

Did I ever mention I have a slight obsession with pancakes?

Heading home.

A hui hou, Kauai!

Thanks for the memories.

    1. HAHA. Thanks for the comment, Alexandra. I'm sorry the photos were just awful and unappealing to the eye. ;) Just before my Kauai trip, I purchased a GoPro Hero 4 (which is what I used for the photos). The camera is very compact and durable (waterproof with the housing, too) so it was perfect for the trip. I'm actually honored that you like my blog/posts/pictures, because I'm pretty much OBSESSED with yours.

I hope you'll be able to visit Kauai for yourself one day!
